Mr. Leon “Doc” Rahming MBE.
1925-2007
“Doc” as he
was affectionately called by his friends was one of the original East Street
Boys who started Economy Jitney Service (now Economy Bus line & Charter Service),
one of the first public transportation businesses in the Bahamas in the 1960,s.
He served in
various leadership positions in the Bahamas State Association of Elks and also
various Civic positions/duties.
In 2007, Leon
was honored with an award of Member of The Most Excellent Order of The British
Empire (MBE) in the Queen’s New Year’s Day Honors, for his long and
distinguished service to the growth and development of public transportation in
The Bahamas.
Leon loved
his community and family and devoted his entire life to uplifting, supporting
and encouraging them to live and work with love, wisdom, and vision. He was a
surrogate father to many of the young men and women who grew up in “The Valley”,
often providing them with fatherly advice and guidance. His favorite piece of
advice to his family, friends, and young people everywhere was a verse from the
book of Proverbs.” “Where there is no vision, the people perish.”
